Go Behind the Scenes at a Historic Paris Fashion Atelier

As each Fashion Week approaches, designers from some of the top haute couture houses will be placing their orders with Maison Legeron, the last independent workshop of its kind in Paris. Bruno Legeron, the fourth-generation owner, directs an all-French crew, making silk flowers and feather work by hand, using the same tools and techniques handed down from the 17th century. Harriet Welty Rochefort, the award-winning author of three books about French culture who leads this experience, says that stepping into his studio is like stepping into the past. “As a craftsman of the highest standing, Mr. Legeron exemplifies the French love of beauty and the discipline necessary to achieve it,” she says. For fashion aficionados, a journey to his studio is an unforgettable, direct connection to the world of haute couture, and a chance to understand how and why Paris is at the center of that world.
