Sèvres: The Regal Art of French Porcelain
Created at the prodding of Louis XV’s favorite mistress, the Marquise de Pompadour, the Manufacture de Sèvres has been making refined hand-painted porcelain tableware for the world’s royalty for nearly three centuries. But it’s much more than that. The Manufacture de Sèvres is also an epicenter for contemporary artists who collaborate with the Sèvres artisans to create otherworldly pieces that grace some of the top art collections in the world.
You'll go behind the scenes to meet the artisans who still use 18th-century processes to make everything from teacups to sculptures. In the spectacular museum you'll see intricate pieces used for dining by royals like Marie-Antoinette, as well as avant-garde artworks. Then visit the showroom where you can choose your own ceramic treasures from this center of French culture and creativity.
